I give it 4.5/5 stars and look forward to what Kemmerer writes next. This book was full of tension, remorse, action, and heartbreaking love, and I definitely cried at the end. This book single-handedly got me out of my January reading slump! ‘Vow’ encompasses Grey and Lia Mara’s rise to power and their unstable hold of Syhl Shallow, Harper and Rhen’s growing distrust, Rhen’s inner struggle against the choices he’s made for the sake of his kingdom, and the upcoming battle between old friends. Starting her Beauty and the Beast retelling with ‘A Curse so Dark and Lonely’, she expanded the world and made it her own in ‘A Heart so Fierce and Broken’, and wrapped up complex political schemes, friend drama, and heartfelt love in ‘A Vow so Bold and Deadly’. Brigid Kemmerer created an enchanting fantasy world with enthralling characters when she started her Cursebreakers series a few years ago. This was an unexpected ending to what is now one of my new favourite series.
